Various factors (decay, gum disease, trauma, etc.) can cause inflammation of the pulp, leading to symptoms such as toothache (often occurring at night) and swelling in the face. First, the decay in the tooth is cleaned, and the affected nerve tissue is removed. After this procedure, the remaining cavity is chemically and mechanically cleaned and filled with root canal filling materials up to the root tip. This process, known as root canal treatment, prevents bacteria in the mouth from reaching the tissues at the root tip and causing infections within the bone.

The root canal treatment process is painless and comfortable thanks to anesthesia techniques. The number of sessions is determined based on the patient's overall health and the condition of the tooth infection. Following this process, there may be mild sensitivity and pain in the teeth. This is a normal post-treatment discomfort and is considered temporary. Once the root tip has fully healed, these complaints subside.

It covers a broad area involved in diagnosing oral diseases caused by hormonal, systemic, genetic, or environmental factors (such as poor oral hygiene) and treating gum diseases.

Even if there is no decay, fracture, etc., in the teeth, problems in the hard and soft tissues supporting the teeth can lead to tooth loss. Early diagnosis in cases such as changes in gum color or gum recession can prevent or delay larger problems and tooth loss. The Periodontology Department includes initial periodontal treatment, reevaluation, advanced periodontal treatment, and maintenance therapy methods to minimize tooth loss in patients.
